Endocil is a long-established skin and personal care brand with a complex ownership history involving several international companies over many decades.

Brand History & Ownership

Origins:
The brand has existed for over 80 years, with products sold internationally since at least the time of the Second World War.

Early Ownership:
The brand was historically associated with a company named N.V. Organon, a Dutch pharmaceutical company, which was later acquired by Akzo NV (now part of AkzoNobel). Endocil was part of Akzo’s product lines in the 1960s and 1970s, with licensing agreements in place in markets like Japan.

Later Acquisitions:
The brand was part of the portfolio of companies acquired by the Indian multinational consumer goods company Dabur in 2005, when Dabur acquired three Balsara group companies. The portfolio included brands like Erasmic, Inecto, Aapri, Cuticura, and Endocil.

Current Primary Distributor (South Africa):
Today, the brand is widely distributed and manufactured in South Africa by Avid Brands (Pty) Ltd. Avid Brands lists Endocil as one of its key personal care brands, describing its formulations as “highly advanced yet uncomplicated” skin care.

Other Markets:
The products are also sold in European markets like Spain, where they are sometimes manufactured locally by specialized hygiene and cosmetic product companies such as Logiestpel S.L..
